Benefits of consuming Suran
- If you are losing weight then you must include it in your diet. It has a high fibre content and is quite low in calories.
- Due to the presence of fibre, you do not feel hungry after eating it and thus you are saved from overeating. However, keep in mind that whenever you eat this vegetable, the amount of oil in it should be less and you should not deep fry it. Otherwise, it may not be helpful in weight loss.
- If you are suffering from anaemia then you must include Suran vegetable in your diet, because it contains rich amounts of iron and folate. With this, the blood deficiency can be compensated.
- Consuming it improves brain function. It contains diosgenin, which promotes neuron growth and helps in improving memory. Its consumption also provides relief from problems like stress.
- Suran contains a good amount of fibre. In such a situation, it can be beneficial for piles patients. Piles are caused due to constipation and the presence of fibre in Suran corrects the bowel movement. Makes the stool soft. This relieves the problem of constipation and also provides a lot of relief from piles.
- Suran can also prove beneficial for diabetic patients. It is a vegetable with a low glycemic index which can prevent sugar spike. It also promotes insulin production.
Suran contains potassium which can help in controlling high BP. This also increases the risk of heart disease.
