Regular exercise, gym, and workout are considered to be one of the most important measures to keep the body healthy. Physical exercise, whether in the gym or in any other way, is considered to keep blood circulation right, increase immunity, and protect against serious chronic diseases. However, in the last few years, there have been cases of death of many people due to heart attack and cardiac arrest during the gym. You must have also heard or seen such news.
Many videos of death due to cardiac arrest during gym are going around on social media. However, the question is that when physical exercise is considered to keep the heart healthy, then why are the cases of heart attack and cardiac arrest increasing due to this? In such a situation, should one not go to the gym? Let us understand this from senior cardiology.
What do experts say?
In a conversation with Amar Ujala, Dr. S., a cardiologist at a hospital in Lucknow. K Tiwari said that many reasons can be responsible for the increasing cases of heart attack and cardiac arrest. An intense level of physical activity in the gym increases your blood pressure rapidly, which increases the sudden stress on the cardiovascular system. People who already have a disease like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or coronary artery disease may be at a higher risk.
To reduce your risks, it becomes very important to pay serious attention to some things and physical signs during exercise.
Is there any chest pain?
Chest discomfort is considered to be the most common symptom in most heart-related problems. If you ever feel heaviness, tightness, or pain in the chest during exercise, then stop exercising immediately and give rest to the body. In case of a heart attack, it should be noted that chest pain can spread to the arms, neck, jaw, or back. If you have such a problem, consult a doctor immediately.
Shortness of breath can be serious.
Breathlessness during exercise is normal, however, if it seems too much or bothersome, it seems as if you are having to work very hard to breathe, then it can be considered a danger signal. If you feel shortness of breath or wheezing during exercise, it can be a sign of an underlying heart problem. In this situation, stop exercising immediately and breathe in the open air outside the gym. Consult a doctor about this as soon as possible.
Pay attention to these signs too.
If you feel dizziness, vertigo, or fainting during or after exercise, then this can also be a sign of a heart problem. If you feel these symptoms, stop exercising immediately and go to the doctor with the help of a companion. Exercise should be avoided for all these symptoms without consulting a doctor.
If someone gets a heart attack in the gym, then without wasting time, give him CPR and immediately take him for emergency medical treatment.
