The risks of many types of health problems have been seen increasing in the Indian population in the last few years. Health experts say that among the diseases whose cases are being reported the most among youth and adults, the problem of CAD is the most prominent.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a problem in the arteries which is considered a major factor in heart diseases and heart attacks. Due to the formation of plaque in the arteries that supply blood to the heart, the normal flow of blood gets disrupted and their insides become narrow, this condition is also called atherosclerosis.

According to study reports, the rate of coronary artery disease (CAD) in Indians is much higher than in many other countries. Certain risk factors increase the risk of CAD, which requires continued preventive measures for people of all ages. Health experts said that the risk of CAD may be even higher in people who already have diabetes.

Know about coronary artery disease
Coronary artery disease is considered a major factor in heart diseases. Due to this problem in the arteries, the heart does not get enough oxygenated blood. Decreased blood flow to the heart can cause chest pain (angina) and difficulty breathing. If blockage in blood flow persists for a long time, the risk of heart attack increases manifold.

Health experts say that the problem of coronary artery disease can take many years to develop, its symptoms also develop gradually, hence in most people it is not diagnosed initially.

Its risk is higher in diabetic patients
Health experts found that although anyone can be at risk of CAD at any age, its cases are seen more in diabetic patients.

The report published in the World J Diabetes journal suggests that people with diabetes mellitus may have a higher risk of coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction or heart attack than those without diabetes. Not only this, the mortality rate in diabetic patients after a case of myocardial infarction is also seen to be around 50% within one year.

Chronic high blood sugar levels can damage nerves and arteries over time.

How to know if you too have CAD problem?
Health experts say, the symptoms of CAD are not very obvious in the beginning, which is why these problems are not diagnosed on time. Some people may have problems with rapid heartbeat or frequent chest pain during exercise. However, as the problem with the arteries increases, its symptoms become more obvious.

The problem of angina is considered to be its main symptom, it often causes chest pain and its symptoms also get cured after some time. Problems in breathing, fatigue and weakness have also been seen in some people.

Also know about these risk factors
Anyone can suffer from heart disease and CAD, although certain habits are considered to be the major risk factors. Health experts said, with increasing age the arteries start getting damaged and narrowed which can be a major factor in CAD. Apart from this, men are generally at higher risk of coronary artery disease, although the risk also increases in women after menopause.

If someone in the family has a history of artery problems, smokes or consumes alcohol, these conditions can also increase your risks.
