Chhath Puja 2023: Chhath Puja has great importance in the Hindu religion. This great festival is mainly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Day 1: Nahay-Khay
Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in Kartik month is the first day of the Chhath festival. Chhath festival starts with Nahay Khay. This year, Nahay-Khay of Chhath is on Friday, 17 November 2023. On this day, pumpkin rice is prepared as Prasad in a sattvik manner.
Day 2: Kharna
Kharna is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Kharna is also called Lohanda. This year Kharna is on 18 November 2023. After fasting throughout the day, the devotees eat kheer made of jaggery after worship at night and then start a waterless fast of 36 hours.
Third day: Main fast
Shashthi Tithi is the third day of Chhath Puja. The main worship of the Chhath festival is done on this day. On the third day of the Chhath festival, the fasting person and all the family members go to the river, lake, pond, etc., and offer Arghya to the setting sun, and Chhathi Maiya is worshipped. This year the third i.e. main day of Chhath Puja is on 19th November.
Fourth day: Usha Arghya
The fourth day i.e. Saptami Tithi is the last day of Chhath Mahaparva. The last day of the Chhath festival is on 20th November. On this day, water is offered to the rising sun in the morning. With this the Chhath festival ends.
