We all use water bottles, but our lifestyle and how healthy we are change the water bottle. If you don't understand... let us explain. Actually, for a healthy lifestyle, people drink water in copper, bronze or glass bottles. Many people use infused water bottles. Plastic bottles are mostly used, but do you know how much impact their use can have on your life just once?
Packaged drinking water is always pure and improved. We use packaged drinking water considering it to be mineral water, but do you know how much harm it can cause? New research has claimed that packaged drinking water is no less than a poison for us.
This is the first time that any research has estimated how many nanoparticles we take into our body in one litre of water.
What does the research say about packaged drinking water?
It is well known that drinking water from plastic bottles is not good for health. It was also known that it contained microplastic pieces, but not much was known about the actual number of particles and how much harm they could cause.
Researchers from Columbia University and Rutgers University have done this calculation. According to research, 1 lakh 10 thousand to 4 lakh plastic pieces can be found in a one-litre water bottle. On average it contains up to 2 lakh 40 thousand particles.
This new study has been tested with laser technology which showed signs of small fragments. Details of the study were published in the Journal of the National Academy of Sciences. According to this study, one litre of packaged drinking water can indicate many diseases for us. With the technology used, even the smallest particles can be seen clearly.
Where do these plastic particles come from?
Research suggests that most of these plastic particles come from the plastic bottles themselves. According to this, the plastic bottle is designed in such a way that external bacteria cannot reach it and this process is called reverse osmosis membrane filter. For this reason, we are protected from external bacteria, but create internal problems and the particles present inside the plastic bottle dissolve in abundance in the water.
In this research, the most common brands of water available in stores have been examined.
How many plastic particles will be present in a bottle can be estimated from the fact that the distribution of particles also changes according to bottles of different shapes and sizes. Micrometer-sized particles are also available.
Scientists have not yet given any information about the extent of harm caused to health by these microparticles, but if we talk about the common harm caused by plastic bottles, then they can be counted.
Why is drinking water from plastic bottles harmful?
The immune system is at risk
Water is stored in plastic bottles for a long time and due to this, chemicals easily enter the water. These go inside our body and affect the immune system of the body. Therefore it is asked to avoid drinking water from plastic bottles.
Liver cancer and fertility problems
Many types of research have been done in this matter and it has been found that phthalates present in plastic can work to reduce liver cancer and sperm count. The latest study by the State University of New York has found that microplastics in bottled water are enough to cause harm.
BPA generation
Chemicals like Biphenyl A can enter our body and cause diabetes, obesity, fertility issues and mood-related problems. Due to this, girls may face the problem of early puberty. Drinking water stored in plastic bottles can prove to be quite harmful.
Dioxin production
Due to direct exposure to the sun, harmful chemicals are released from plastic bottles and dioxin is one of them. It is found in water which causes various types of chemicals in the body.
This is why drinking water in plastic bottles is considered bad.
