According to reports, special trains will leave from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi on April 19 and 26 for Ganga Pushkaralu Festival. After this, the return journey will be on 20 and 27 April. On the other hand, special trains to be run for the summer season will start in May and June.

If reports are to be believed, Varanasi is all set to host devotees, mostly from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, for this 12-day grand festival. During the festival, a huge crowd of devotees throngs the banks of the river Ganga in Varanasi and Haridwar.

As per the beliefs, a devotee named Pushkar was granted the power to purify the holy rivers by the Hindu deity Shiva, after which he decided to enter the 12 holy rivers. These rivers include Ganga, Narmada, Saraswati, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri, Bhima, Tapti, Tungabhadra, Indus, and Pranita.

During the Ganga Pushkaralu festival, people take a dip in the holy river Ganges to absolve themselves of sins and receive blessings. Ganga Pushkaralu is considered a very auspicious time to perform rituals and worship related to ancestors. During this people pray, bhajan-kirtan and cultural programs are performed.
