Rules of Ganesh Sthapana
If you are also going to install the idol of Ganpati Bappa in your house, then install it in the northeast direction. Also, keep in mind that the face of the idol should be towards the west.

Before installing Ganpati Bappa, thoroughly clean the place where you are going to install Lord Ganesha. Do not leave any kind of impurity or garbage at that place.

After this, install the idol of Bappa at the auspicious time. After establishing Lord Ganesha, worship him and perform aarti every morning and evening. Offer food to Lord Ganesha at both times and show incense sticks.

One thing should be kept in mind once the idol of Lord Ganesha is installed, do not remove it from there. The idol can be removed from there only at the time of immersion.

Also, keep in mind that do not consume non-veg or alcohol etc. for 10 days of Ganesh Utsav. Nor bring such things home. If possible, avoid eating garlic and onion during this period.
