Foreign investors withdraw money
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have withdrawn Rs 2,313 crore from the Indian stock markets this month from 1 to 24 February 2023. Although the speed of selling of FPI has been less in comparison to January last month. Foreign investors had withdrawn Rs 28,852 crore from the stock markets at that time. The data of the meeting of the US central bank Federal Reserve is yet to be released.

This much withdrawal last year
According to depository data, last year in December 2022, FPIs made a net investment of Rs 11,119 crore in Indian stocks and Rs 36,238 crore in November. Foreign investors have made a net withdrawal of $ 16.5 billion, or about Rs 1.21 lakh crore, from the Indian markets during the whole year. In this context, 2022 has proved to be the worst year for FPI. Before this, FPI had been a net investor in the Indian market for three consecutive years.

The pace of reduction in inflation has slowed down
Himanshu Srivastava, Associate Director-Manager Research, Morningstar India, says that FPIs have adopted a cautious approach due to disappointing economic data in the US. Due to the slow pace of reduction in inflation, the US central bank is expected to continue increasing the interest rates for a longer period. FPI has invested Rs 2,819 crore in the loan or bond market.
