Now toll tax on national and state highways is deducted only through Fastag. If the toll is paid by cash, double the amount is charged. This is the reason why now most of the drivers are using Fastag. However, there are complaints like excess amounts being deducted at toll booths due to Fastag or money being withdrawn from the account twice, and cases of toll tax being deducted even without passing through any toll booth have also come to light. Recently, the toll of the car parked outside the house of Dayanand Pachauri of Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh was also deducted through Fastag at the toll plaza located at Sironji, 175 kilometers away. Pachauri has complained about this to Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

This is not the first incident of toll tax being deducted for a vehicle parked at home. Many such cases have come to light. If toll tax is deducted from a person's Fastag without passing through the toll or if excess toll is collected, then the vehicle owner is entitled to get his money back. For this, you will have to complain. There are two ways to complain. You can lodge a complaint on NHAI's toll-free helpline number 1033. Apart from this, you can also lodge a complaint on the helpline number of the Fastag issuing bank.

Register complaint on 1033
To complain about the wrong deduction of money from Fastag, you can call NHAI's Fastag helpline. After calling, follow the instructions and explain your problem. According to the HHAI website, if the complaint is found to be genuine then the wrongly deducted money is returned to the customer within 20-30 working days.

Complain on the helpline of the fasting issuing bank
Fastag is issued by many banks. You can also complain about wrong or excessive deduction of money on the helpline of these banks. You can know the helpline numbers of these banks by visiting the link of the NPCI website www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/netc-fastag/netc-fastag-helpline-number.

For example, if your Fastag is of Paytm then you can call the helpline number 1800-120-4210. After making the call, after giving some information, a link will be sent through SMS. There you will have to give information about the transaction which according to you has gone wrong.
