Red lentils

If you are a kidney patient then you should avoid eating red lentils. Red lentils have higher amounts of potassium and phosphorus as compared to other lentil varieties. Potassium-rich foods can be harmful to individuals whose kidneys are not functioning properly.

The kidneys of such people may not be able to properly filter excess potassium from the bloodstream. Similarly, high levels of phosphorus can cause bone and mineral metabolism issues in kidney patients.

Urad dal

Urad dal may taste good, but if you have kidney problems then you should avoid urad dal. Urad dal also contains a sufficient amount of potassium and phosphorus, due to which kidney patients may face problems due to the consumption of this dal. Not only this, urad dal increases the production of uric acid in the body and that is why this dal is not considered good for kidney patients.

Black lentils

Although the amount of potassium and phosphorus in black lentils is not as high as that of red lentils or urad dal, still these minerals are found in sufficient quantity.
