Understanding the signs of pre-diabetes and controlling them in time, then diabetes can be easily prevented, whereas if there is no sugar control in diabetes, then almonds will control it like a medicine. Let us learn how from a recent study. According to two new studies on Indian participants, eating almonds before meals led to faster blood sugar control in overweight people. According to a report published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition and the Journal of Clinical Nutrition ESPEN, 60 people who ate 20 grams (about a small handful) of almonds 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner for three months had a lower risk of prediabetes or diabetes. Glucose intolerance was normalized i.e. their blood sugar was reduced rapidly.

According to study lead author Anoop Mishra, Professor and Chairman, Fortis-C-Doc Center of Excellence for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases, almonds as part of the dietary strategy helped regulate blood sugar levels and a significant difference was observed.
They say these results suggest that adding a small portion of almonds before each meal can rapidly improve glycemic control in just three days.
Researchers said that the nutrients fibre, monounsaturated fat, zinc and magnesium in almonds work together to provide better glycemic control and help reduce appetite.
Where was the effect of eating almonds visible?
Whereas, eating 20 grams of almonds before breakfast, lunch and dinner for three months also showed positive differences in body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, shoulder and hip areas, and skin in the group.
