India 6G Alliance Platform
Union Minister for Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav announced the India 6G Alliance on Monday. The website of India 6G Alliance was also launched. According to the government, the India 6G Alliance will create alliances and synergies with other 6G global alliances. Its primary objective is to understand the business and societal needs of 6G beyond the technical requirements, promote consensus on these needs, and promote high-impact open research and development (R&D) initiatives. B6GA aims to build partnerships by bringing together Indian startups, companies, and the manufacturing ecosystem that drives the design, development, and deployment of 6G technology in India.

Addressing the occasion, Union Minister Vaishnav said that in the last nine years, many reforms have been done for the telecom sector as a rising sector. He said that the world is following the path of technology which India is following. He said that the research and startup ecosystem will be developed for innovation under the India 6G Alliance, which will be completed in two phases. The first phase will be completed from 2023-2025 and Phase-2 from 2025 to 2030. That is, by 2030, the 6G service will start in India.

5G was launched last year
High-speed 5G service was launched in the country on October 1, 2022, in India and the telecom service provider started the service in the same month. The government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers in August 2022 and asked them to be ready for the rollout of 5G services in the country. The Department of Telecom had received bids totaling Rs 1.50 lakh crore from the 5G spectrum auction. The Telecom sector is an ever-evolving sector with high technological applications.
