Diwali is near, and like every year, just before this festival of lights, the Central Government has given a gift to its employees and pensioners, and the Union Cabinet has approved a three percent increase in their Dearness Allowance (and Dearness Relief). Although the Narendra Modi government at the Center has announced that the plan to form the Eighth Pay Commission is not being considered at the moment, but all the central officers, employees and pensioners receiving salary and pension under the Seventh Pay Commission will benefit from a three percent increase.

DA has increased by 36% in three years...
It is worth noting that before the spread of coronavirus and the disease COVID-19 caused by it, till December 2019, all the officers and employees receiving salary on the basis of 7th Pay Commission were getting dearness allowance and dearness relief at the rate of 17 percent, but after that, for three times, i.e. for one and a half years, no amendment or increase was made in dearness allowance due to COVID-19, and till June 2021, all the officers and employees were getting only 17 percent dearness allowance.
Then after the outbreak of Covid subsided, the dearness allowance was increased by 11 percent to 28 percent in July 2021, and then again in October 2021, it was increased by 3 percent, and this increase was also implemented from July 1, 2021, so, as a result, all central officers and employees got DA on salary and pensioners got DA on pension at the rate of 31 percent from July 1, 2021. After this, dearness allowance was also increased by 3 percent in January 2022. As a result, all central officers and employees and pensioners started getting 34 percent dearness allowance. After that, in July of the same year, DA was increased by 4 percent, and DA became 38 percent. After this, DA was increased by 4 percent every time in January, 2023, July, 2023 and January, 2024, as a result of which all central officers-employees and pensioners have been getting dearness allowance and dearness relief at the rate of 50 percent till now, and after the increase of 3 percent this time, now all the employees will get 53 percent dearness allowance.
