Coronavirus cases have been a cause of global concern for more than three years. In the last few months, a lot of improvement was being seen in the cases of newly infected, although the recent report may again raise concerns. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported the emergence of a new sub-variant EU.1.1 of Corona in the northwestern states of America. Recently, this variant is the major cause in many patients with confirmed infection.

Health experts said that at present, continuous research is being done to know about this variant. Currently, about 1.7% of all COVID-19 cases in the United States are due to this variant.
Also in the US states of Montana and Colorado, it is the leading cause for 8.7% of cases. The state of Utah has recorded the highest number of cases of this new variant, around 100.

Health experts have warned that all countries need to be alert about Corona.

Learn about the new sub-variant EU.1.1
Preliminary research so far has found that this new sub-variant EU.1.1 is a descendant of Omicron's sub-variant XBB.1.5, which is responsible for the rapid increase in corona cases in many countries including India this year. Was believed to be responsible.

Health experts say, it is too early to say whether this sub-variant will cause new symptoms in infected people or will it require new vaccines. Most of the people have been vaccinated, due to which the body has strong immunity, it will be a matter to be seen how this variant affects such people.

What do researchers say?
The team of researchers studying new variants says that the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 disease is constantly mutating. In such a situation, we are always working on the apprehensions of new variants. Sometimes new variants emerge and disappear. On the other hand, the nature of some may be more infectivity or serious diseases.

As of now, it is understood that this new variant is a variant of XBB.1.5, so it is expected that it will not cause more serious diseases.

Vaccines targeting new variants will be available soon
Given the frequent mutations occurring in Omicron, health experts recently emphasized the need for vaccines that target the new variants. Since most of the vaccines available so far target the original variant of Corona which has changed a lot in the last three years.

Working fast in this direction, scientists have also developed special new vaccines. Moderna recently announced that it has prepared new modified vaccine shots, whose recommendation has been sent to the FDA for emergency use approval.

Vaccination against Omicron
According to reports, the new vaccines are designed to target only the XBB.1.5 variants, citing research by the drugmaker that the vaccine is also effective against Omicron's multiple variants, XBB.1.16 and XBB.2.3. Will provide an effective strong immune response.

Given the threat of new variants, India has also recently launched a booster vaccine specifically targeting Omicron variants.
