For the last 15 days, the new variant of Corona, Eris EG.5.1, is being discussed all over the world, researchers have alerted all the people to prevent infection, calling it more infectious in the study. This variant has been confirmed in India as well, while in many countries including the UK, due to this, a rapid increase in the number of patients has also been seen in the past.

Meanwhile, the team of researchers has alerted about another new variant of Corona after Eris. According to Thursday's report by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a new strain of Kovid, BA.2.86, has been detected. Cases have been reported in several countries, including Israel, Denmark, and the United States.

The team of researchers said that this could be one of the highly mutated versions of the corona. CDC experts said we are monitoring the nature of this new strain of the virus. This is a brand new variant that's why not much information is available about it till now. Research is being done to understand this.

'Variant under monitoring'
CDC spokeswoman Kathleen Conley says, we are now more prepared to detect new variants of Corona than before, we have come to know about another new variant of Corona, this variant has seen more mutations, ie That it may increase the infectivity and risk. Given this threat, the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified it as a 'Variant Under Monitoring'.

Earlier, in many countries, the number of mutations is being told more in comparison to the Eris variant, which is rapidly increasing the infection in many countries.

What is the nature of this new variant?
Scientists say that at the moment it is too early to say anything about how much more dangerous this variant will be than the virus strain currently spreading. The UN agency says that more data is needed to understand the threat posed by BA.2.86, but that both its infectivity and severity are expected to be high due to the high number of mutations in it.

More mutations than earlier variants
Preliminary research has found that this new strain has dozens of genetic changes compared to the original Omicron variant revealed in the year 2021. Such changes indicate that this new strain may infect more people than the earlier variants. It may also be more effective at evading immunity built up in the body from prior infections or vaccinations.

"Deep mutational scanning indicates that the BA.2.86 variant may be the variant with the highest number of mutations in Omicron," says Jesse Bloom, a biologist at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. There are 36 mutations.

What is the advice of scientists?
The first case of BA.2.86 was reported by the laboratory of the University of Michigan, USA.

Amidst the already ongoing concern about the EG.5 of the XBB variant, a new variant has alerted the scientists even more. Scientists say that there is a continuous mutation in the variants of Corona, which is an indication that we need to be constantly alert. The risk of corona remains constant, all countries need to emphasize strict adherence to Covid Appropriate Behavior so that we can reduce the potential risk.
