Diabetes is one of those chronic diseases, the risk of which is seen to be increasing rapidly. This problem, which has become quite common among young and old people, is now making young people a victim. Health experts say, in most cases, the risk of type-1 diabetes has been seen in children, but they can also be victims of type-2 diabetes. Type-1 is a type of autoimmune disease that can have a genetic risk, but now due to many bad habits in children, the risk of type-2 diabetes is also increasing.

Health experts have expressed concern that the problem of diabetes in children at an early age can lead to many other complications. This can also have a direct impact on their quality of life. That's why we must pay special attention to the daily routine of our children as well. Studies have been alerting about the risk of diabetes in a large population of the world by the year 2050.

Understand the difference between the two diabetes
Here first it is necessary to understand the difference between these two types of diabetes. Type-1 diabetes is primarily an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body's healthy pancreatic cells, causing it to no longer produce insulin. On the other hand, in type-2 diabetes, insulin is either not produced enough or the body is not able to use it properly. Type-2 diabetes is mainly believed to be related to lifestyle and metabolic disturbances.

Type 2 diabetes risk in children
According to WHO, an estimated 77 million people above the age of 18 years in India are suffering from type 2 diabetes. Doctors have found that although its risk has been more in old adults, but now its cases are also being seen in teenagers 12-20 years of age. Among the reasons which are major for this, physical inactivity in children, and due to this the risk of obesity has been major. Being overweight can increase the risk of diabetes in people of any age.

What say doctor?
In conversation with Amar Ujala, Mumbai-based senior endocrinologist Dr Wasim. M. Gauhari says, due to the messy lifestyle of children, the problem of weight gain is being seen more in them. This can increase the risk of not only diabetes but also many other chronic diseases. Obesity causes insulin resistance, which is a risk factor for type 2. Children being more attached to a mobile, lack of outdoor sports, and excessive consumption of junk-fast foods are factors that increase these risks.

Since diabetes brings many other diseases along with it, we all must rectify the disturbances in our lifestyle.

Such children need special care
Children whose parents have diabetes may be at a higher risk of developing it genetically. An increased level of blood sugar can cause problems throughout the body. This can damage blood vessels and nerves, putting the eyes, kidneys, and heart at risk. To prevent the risks of these problems growing at an early age, it is necessary to keep food and routine right.
