A surprising increase in pneumonia cases was seen in China in the last one month. Children were most affected by this disease called Mycoplasma pneumonia. According to media reports, there has been a rapid increase in the number of patients in the emergency departments of hospitals complaining of pneumonia and respiratory infections. Officials have advised everyone to remain alert and continue taking protective measures.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is seriously monitoring the sudden increase in infectious H9N2 cases in China. WHO has advised the authorities to keep continuously updating the situation and make efforts to prevent the increasing infectious disease in the country. Experts say that along with China, other countries also need to be on alert.

Meanwhile, some reports are claiming that cases of Mycoplasma pneumonia are being reported in India also. Is it so, let us know.

The government rejected the claims
With the recent increase in cases of pneumonia in China, reports are being made about confirmation of its pathogens in India too.

However, completely rejecting it, on Thursday (December 7), the Government of India clearly said that such media reports are misleading and wrong. PIB issued a release saying that the claims being made by linking some cases of bacterial infection in Delhi AIIMS to pneumonia in China are wrong. Mycoplasma pneumonia is one of the most common types of pneumonia. The pneumonia cases at AIIMS Delhi have no connection with the respiratory infections reported in children in China. The Government of India is on alert here and all security measures are being followed seriously.

Not a single case of mycoplasma pneumonia since January
According to information shared by the Government of India, seven bacterial cases of respiratory infection were recorded at AIIMS Delhi in the six months between April and September 2023. However, these are in no way related to the pneumonia cases in China. Mycoplasma pneumonia has not been confirmed in even one of the 611 sample tests conducted since January 2023.

Given the recent increase in the risks of this infectious disease in China, the Health Ministry is on alert and all necessary measures are being taken to prevent it in the country.

Cause of pneumonia in china
Based on a study conducted to understand the cause of pneumonia risks in China, experts said - in fact, this is the first time in three years after the Corona epidemic that China is entering the winter season without restrictions. Since its inception, a wave of respiratory diseases has been seen across the country. Cases of this type of pneumonia have been seen in many countries before, but due to strict restrictions in China, till now the risk of viruses causing respiratory diseases has reduced. After the lifting of the ban, its danger has increased again.
