For Diwali and Chhath Puja, lakhs of people go from Delhi to their homes in UP, Bihar, Bengal, and Jharkhand. The number of passengers on trains increases significantly during festivals. Due to this, it is difficult to get confirmed tickets on trains. As trains become full, airlines also increase air fares by two to three times. The same is the situation regarding Chhath Puja.
This time Chhath Puja is from 17th November to 20th November. In such a situation, it has become difficult for those who have to return home for Chhath Puja and cannot book tickets in advance, it has become difficult for them to get reservation confirmation. Tickets booked two months in advance are on waiting list. Whereas now in trains, if the waiting list is not confirmed, the ticket gets cancelled. For this reason, passengers are doubtful about the journey even after booking tickets. Know the status of trains and airfares during Chhath Puja and how you can travel if you have waiting train tickets.
Plane ticket expensive
Most of the airline companies have increased the fares of planes flying before Chhath Puja by two to three times. Generally, most of the passengers traveling by train are not able to buy expensive plane tickets, whereas on the occasion of festivals, when the air fares increase, it is like a dream for the common people to buy a flight ticket.
Delhi to Patna train ticket
There is a waiting list of more than 100 in many trains from New Delhi to Patna. The fare of trains like Tejas, Rajdhani, and Vande Bharat Special is also more than Rs 2500 thousand. The waiting time for trains is till around 30th November. Train tickets are available in December, but there is concern for those going on the occasion of Chhath.
Flight fare
The flight fare from Delhi to Patna on the 17th ranges from around Rs 12 thousand to around Rs 23 thousand. On November 18, the fare has reached Rs 10,000. However, the fare for Delhi to Patna flight on 19th and 20th November is currently showing up to Rs 6 thousand which is the closing days of Chhath Puja.
How to travel without a confirmed ticket
According to the rules of Indian Railways, if you have a waiting ticket instead of a confirmed ticket, then you can travel by train. However, keep in mind that the waiting ticket you have should be taken from the window and not an online waiting ticket.
Window passengers can travel even if there is a waiting ticket and tickets booked online get canceled while there is a waiting list.
If you have taken a window ticket for Chhath Puja, which is waiting, then even TTE cannot stop you from traveling. If there is any vacant seat left on the train, you can speak to TTE and travel by sitting on that seat.
Passengers who book tickets online cannot travel if there is a waiting train ticket, but they can get a refund by canceling the ticket.
