Which flyovers are built in Chennai?
Many flyovers like Badarpur Flyover, Shastri Park Flyover, Azadpur Flyover, Britannia Flyover, Airport Flyover, IP Flyover, Keelkattalai Flyover, etc. are built here. The city's first flyover, named Anna Flyover, was built in 1973 on Gemini Circle, it was the third flyover in India after Kemps Corner and Marine Drive in Mumbai.
It was also the longest flyover in the country when it was built. After this, no major flyover was built for 20 years. The number of flyovers in the city began to increase in the late 1990s when nine flyovers were constructed across the city during the tenure of the then-mayor of the city, MK Stalin.
