According to NIH, fasting can have many health benefits. Some types of fasting have shown positive effects on blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, obesity and swelling in the body. But these benefits are possible only when some rules are followed during fasting. Nutritionist Lavneet Batra tells that if you want to take full advantage of fasting, then do not make these three common mistakes during this period.
Do not drink too much tea and coffee
Nutritionists do not recommend drinking too much tea and coffee during fasting, which is a mistake most people make. According to him, excessive consumption of tea or coffee negatively affects digestion during fasting. It also causes stress by dehydrating the body.
Avoid eating continuously
Many people keep eating something or the other every while fasting. If you have any medical condition then you can adopt this method. But if you want to get the health benefits related to fasting then avoid this practice. Because by doing this your digestive system does not get rest.
Do not eat foods with carbs
Many people eat sweet food during fasting, but the real benefit of fasting comes when you take a break from foods containing carbs. In such a situation, avoid excess sugar, fried foods and high carb foods. This is also important because these foods cause lack of energy and lethargy.
