This week is cervical cancer prevention week and knowing its signs can help in catching the disease early. According to a report, in 2020, around 6,04,127 new cases of cervical cancer were reported worldwide and 3,41,831 deaths occurred. Of these, about 1.25 lakh cases were registered in India.

In addition, Cancer Research UK says that about 850 women die of cervical cancer every year in the UK, which is increasing every year. At the same time, the American Cancer Society says that about 4,310 women die of this disease every year in America. Meanwhile, the National Health Service (NHS) said that one of the main symptoms of cervical cancer can be found in your lower back, between your hip bones (pelvis), or in your lower abdomen.

Three other symptoms of cervical cancer-
Vaginal bleeding that is unusual for you
Changes in your vaginal discharge
Pain during sex

It is important to note that you may get such symptoms regularly if you are suffering from other conditions like fibroids and endometriosis. Many people get used to it, but if your symptoms change you must get them checked by a GP.
