Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally, killing millions of people every year. Researchers said the most commonly reported cases are prostate cancer in men and cervical breast cancer in women. Although better treatments are now available for cancer prevention and treatment than decades ago, it is still very difficult for common people. However, scientists are continuously making efforts for the treatment of cancer and are researching new treatment methods.
Meanwhile, according to a recent report, a team of researchers has developed a new method of injection for cancer treatment, which can be especially beneficial in the treatment of cancer. According to reports, England is going to start the world's first seven-minute cancer treatment jab. These injections will significantly reduce the duration of cancer treatment.
Researchers have expressed hope that this injection will not only reduce the treatment time but will also provide effective treatment to millions of cancer patients.
Atezolizumab injection will cure cancer
According to the UK government's National Health Service (NHS), England will be the first country in the world to launch an injection to treat cancer. Following approval from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), NHS officials said the immunotherapy, called atezolizumab, would be available, which is expected to help treat hundreds of cancer patients here. This injection given under the skin could help to simplify the hitherto complex treatment of cancer.
What do health experts say?
Dr Alexander Martin, consultant oncologist at the NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The approval of injectables for the treatment of cancer will not only help us to provide more convenient and faster care for patients, it will also be more convenient for doctors. Now we will be able to provide treatment to more patients in a day.
Atezolizumab is also known as Texentric, according to a release issued by NHS England. Till now the intervention treatment takes 30 to 60 minutes, which will be reduced to 7 minutes.
This medicine will activate the immune system
According to medical reports, Atezolizumab is an injection manufactured by Roche (ROG.S) company Genentech. It is an immunotherapy drug that helps the patient's immune system to detect and destroy cancer cells. Health experts pointed out that NHS patients with a few more types of cancer are currently offered treatment by transfusion, including lung, breast, liver, and bladder.
Experts at NHS England expect more than 3,600 patients to directly benefit from the introduction of the injection in England. So far, the treatment took a long time for the drug to reach the veins of many patients. Now with the new method, the injection can be easily delivered to the body by giving it under the skin instead of the veins.
