How educated is Nirmala Sitharaman?
Nirmala Sitharaman was born in a Brahmin family on 18 August 1959 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Sitharaman's father's name is Narayan Sitharaman and his mother's name is Savitri Devi. Sitharaman was smart in studies since childhood. He obtained his BA degree from Seethalakshmi College, Tiruchirappalli. Studied Masters in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1980. Later obtained an MPhil degree.

When Sitharaman was studying for MPhil at JNU, she fell in love with her classmate Parakala Prabhakar. Both of them got married and shifted to London. She returned home before her first child was born in 1991. Later she started living in Hyderabad.

Sitharaman's career
After completing her studies, Nirmala Sitharaman started her career by taking over as Senior Manager at Price Tupper House Cooper. Later also worked for BBC World Service. After coming back to Hyderabad, she was one of the founders of Pranab School. She was also a member of the National Commission of Women.

Political career of Nirmala Sitharaman
Sitharaman's husband was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the year 2000, her husband was the spokesperson of the Andhra Pradesh unit of BJP. During this period, Sitharaman's understanding and interest in politics also increased. Later in 2006, Sitharaman also joined BJP. However, her husband joined film star Chiranjeevi's party the very next year. But Nirmala Sitharaman remained associated with the BJP and got a place among the six spokespersons of the party during that period. In the year 2010, Sitharaman became the spokesperson of the BJP party.
