Upma is a delicious South Indian dish. This is a healthy choice for breakfast. This is an easy dish to prepare. This is a great recipe to make if you're in a hurry. It can be prepared in less than 20 minutes. Upma can be made in many ways. Mainly semolina (rava) is used in this. Semolina contains fiber and helps in weight loss. Ingredients
Semolina – 1 cup
Onion – 1
Mustard – 1/2 tsp
Green chilli – 1
Boiling water – 1/2 cup
Small Potato – 1
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 10
salt as required
Recipe
- First of all, peel the onion and potato and chop them finely in separate bowls.
- After this, keep a pan on low flame and dry roast the semolina in it.
Once done, take it out in a bowl and keep it aside until required.
Then keep the same pan on medium flame and melt ghee in it.
- After melting, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Let them temper for a few seconds and then add chopped onion.
- Fry for a minute and then add chopped potatoes.
- Add salt as per taste. Cover the pan and let the contents cook for a minute.
-Meanwhile, boil water in a saucepan over medium heat. Water can also be boiled in an electric kettle until the potatoes are cooked.
- Add roasted semolina to the vegetables and mix well.
Now quickly add boiled water to semolina and mix well.
- Cover the pan with a lid and let the upma cook for a minute or two.
- Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
