Banana chips are a popular snack in many parts of the world, especially in South India. They are made by slicing green bananas thinly, deep-frying them until crispy, and then seasoning them with spices. Here's a recipe to make banana chips:

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 raw (green) bananas
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

  1. Peel the raw bananas and slice them thinly using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife. Make sure the slices are uniform in thickness.

  2. In a bowl, add sliced bananas, salt, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder (if using). Mix well and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

  3. Heat oil in a deep pan or a kadhai over medium heat.

  4. Once the oil is hot, add a few banana slices at a time to the oil. Do not overcrowd the pan.

  5. Fry the banana slices on medium heat for 5-6 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy. Make sure to stir occasionally to ensure even frying.

  6. Once the banana slices are crispy, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain the excess oil on a paper towel.

  7. Repeat the process with the remaining banana slices until all of them are fried.

  8. Let the banana chips cool down to room temperature.

  9. Store the banana chips in an airtight container for later consumption or serve them immediately as a snack.
