When we eat food, a substance called purine is formed by digesting protein in our body. The breakdown of purines produces uric acid, which is a waste of the body. Uric acid travels to the kidneys through the blood and is excreted from the body with urine. The uric acid level in a healthy person is 3.5 to 7.2 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). In adult women, it is 2.6 to 6.0 mg per deciliter. When the level of uric acid exceeds this, it can cause diseases like arthritis. In arthritis, there is pain and swelling in the joints. There are some natural ways to reduce arthritis pain.
Jowar is a superfood which is rich in fiber and antioxidants. They remove toxins from the body and also reduce uric acid levels. A University of Maryland study has found that rotis made from jowar, millet, and other coarse grains flush out uric acid from the body. According to the study, these grains contain soluble fiber, which absorbs uric acid and removes it from the body.
Celery will be beneficial
Celery is a common spice commonly used to reduce stomach gas and bloating. However, studies have shown that consumption of celery can also reduce uric acid levels. Celery contains omega-3 fatty acids and diuretic properties. These properties help in removing excess fluid from the kidneys. This helps in removing uric acid from the body. The elements present in celery also make the blood alkaline, which reduces swelling.
Way to combine both
According to research, celery and jowar or bajra rotis can help in reducing uric acid. You can eat these two by mixing them. For this, first mix celery in jowar or millet flour. Then make rotis from this flour. If you want to eat millet rotis with ghee, then first make the roti and then sprinkle celery finely on it while mixing the ghee. This will make your rotis taste very tasty.
