Meta-owned instant multimedia messaging app WhatsApp has once again taken major action in India and banned 75 lakh accounts. WhatsApp has taken this action in October under the new IT law.

Meta has said that a total of 7,548,000 WhatsApp accounts have been banned in India between October 1-31. Of these, 1,919,000 have already been banned due to complaints from users.

WhatsApp had received 9,063 complaints regarding WhatsApp accounts in October 2023. Every month WhatsApp releases this report which contains information about the accounts banned that month.

Why is it banned?
WhatsApp account is banned due to violation of privacy and policy. If objectionable messages are being sent to people from any account or spam messages are being sent, then such accounts can be banned.

Let us tell you that earlier in September, WhatsApp had banned 71.1 lakh accounts in India. All these accounts are banned under IT law. WhatsApp takes this action every month based on complaints and releases a user safety report at the end of the month.

Your account may also be banned
After the introduction of new IT rules in 2021, WhatsApp released a complaint appeal report every month. This includes complaints regarding spam, nudity, etc. If you do any such activity from your WhatsApp account, your account may also be banned.
