There is big news for crores of senior citizens above 70 years of age in the country. According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can launch Ayushman Bharat health insurance cover for all senior citizens of 70 years or above under Ayushman Bharat Yojana from October 29. This decision of the government will benefit about 6 crore citizens of 4.5 crore families.

After taking advantage of this scheme, any senior citizen of 70 years or above will be able to get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in the hospitals listed under Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Ayushman Bharat Yojana is also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. A total of 29,648 hospitals are listed under the scheme as of September 1, 2024. This includes 12,696 private hospitals. The scheme is being implemented in 33 states and union territories of the country except Delhi, Odisha and West Bengal.

People whose age is more than 70 years in the Aadhar card. They can take advantage of the insurance cover of Ayushman Bharat Yojana. To take advantage of the scheme, you have to register on the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Portal or Ayushman App.

According to sources, people who already have Ayushman card will have to apply again for a new card and get e-KYC done. Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana is an ambitious scheme of the Government of India.

Under this scheme, the government is providing health insurance cover of up to five lakh rupees to the poor people of the country. There are crores of people in the country who lack basic health facilities.

Due to being financially weak, these people are not able to get themselves treated properly. In view of this problem, the central government is starting the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
