Also, there is news that there may be an increase in the fitment factor of the employees. The employees union has been demanding to increase the fitment factor for a long time. At present, government employees are getting a 2.57 fitment factor, which is being demanded to be increased to 3.68 times. If the government does this, then the basic salary of the employees will increase.
What is the fitment factor?
While fixing the salary of central employees, all allowances such as DA, TA, and House Rent Allowance (HRA) are calculated by multiplying the basic salary of the employee with the fitment factor. The basic salary of the employees increases only by the fitment factor.
If the government increases the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68, then the minimum basic salary will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. That is, there can be an increase of eight thousand rupees in the basic salary of government employees.
Entry level salary
Earlier in 2017, the basic pay at the entry-level was increased from Rs 7,000 per month to Rs 18,000. At present, the minimum basic salary is Rs 18000 and the maximum basic salary is Rs 56900.
The basic salary is calculated by multiplying the fitment factor of the 7th Pay Commission by 2.57. Suppose the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000, then excluding allowance, he will get Rs 18000x2.57 = Rs 46,200. If this becomes 3.68 then there will be a big increase in the basic salary of the employees.
Lakhs of people will be benefited
Looking at the rising figure of inflation, it is being said that this time the government can increase DA by 4-5 percent. However, no statement has been issued by the government on this yet. If the government increases the DA of the employees considering the inflation figures, then 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners will get its benefit.
Outstanding DA can be paid
