Like Priya and Vijay, there are lakhs of youth in the country who are not happy with their current salary. Recently a report by HR World has come out. It has been said that 7 out of every 10 people in India are not happy with their current salary. At the same time, five out of 10 employees believe that salary is an important part of them.
Not only this, another report by staffing firm Adecco has come this year, according to which 21 percent of employees in India and 9 percent in Malaysia want a 20% increase in their salary.
According to a report of 'Adecco India Salary Guide 2024', 91 percent of employees in India and 72 percent of employees in Malaysia expect to increase their salary by at least 20% while changing jobs.
So will Indian companies improve their pay scales?
The Future of Pay in India 2022 released a survey in which many companies were asked whether they were thinking of improving the pay scale of their employees.
90 percent of the companies surveyed said that they are thinking of improving their pay scale in the coming 12 months. Whereas 88% of the companies say that they will work on paying salaries to their employees on time.
Salary increase in India is highest in Asia

It is estimated that this year 024 employees working in Vietnam may get a hike of 8%. It is expected that there will be a hike of 6% in China, 5.7% in Philippines and 5% in Thailand.
However, Indian companies can give a hike of more than 10 percent in the performance base appraisal this year. Last year, in 2023, more than 50 percent of the employees in India got a hike of between 5 to 10 percent due to performance base appraisal, while 15 percent of people got a hike of more than 20 percent in salary.

According to a report by ICICI Securities, the monthly average income of a salaried person working in urban areas of India was Rs 20,030 in the second quarter of FY 2022. Which was increased to Rs 21,647 in the first quarter of FY 2023.

However, the daily wages of daily wage labourers in rural areas have increased from Rs 302 per day in the second quarter of FY 2021 to Rs 368 per day in the first quarter of FY 2023.

Which sector has the highest salary?

Women get less salary

More money for experienced workers
