"The world's fastest 5G rollout continues. Over 3 lakh 5G sites have been set up in 714 districts," Union minister Vaishnav said on the social media platform Koo. Explain that Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are the only telecom operators to launch 5G services in the country. Data shared by the minister shows that more than 3 lakh sites have been installed within 10 months since the 5G service was launched on October 1 last year.
According to official data, 1 lakh sites have been installed within five months of the service launch and 2 lakh sites within eight months. Let us tell you that the figure of 2 lacks for 5G sites was reached in May when the 5G site in Gangotri was inaugurated by the IT Minister and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Union Minister of State for Communications Devusingh Chouhan said in April that over 600 districts of the country were covered within 200 days of the rollout, which is one of the fastest installations in the world.
Last month, an Ericsson Mobility Report said that 5G subscriptions in India are estimated to reach around 10 million by the end of 2022 and the country could account for around 57 percent of mobile subscriptions by the end of 2028.
