LIC India Dividend: LIC filled the coffers of the government treasury, giving a dividend of Rs 7324 crore

LIC India Dividend: Public sector insurance company Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has given Rs 7324 crore as dividend to the Government of India. The government has a 96 percent stake in LIC.

LIC India Dividend: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Friday (August 29) gave a dividend cheque of Rs 7,324.34 crore to the Government of India for the financial year 2024-25. LIC CEO and Managing Director R Doraiswami handed over this cheque to Union Finance Minister and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The company's shareholders approved it during the annual general meeting of LIC held on August 26. 

 

All of them were present on the occasion 

On this occasion, senior officials of the Finance Ministry including Secretary of the Department of Financial Services Nagaraju M. and Joint Secretary Prashant Kumar Goyal were present. On behalf of LIC, Managing Director Satpal Bhanu, Dinesh Pant, Ratnakar Patnaik and Zonal Manager (In-charge) of Northern Zone JPS Bajaj were present.

Government holds a major stake in LIC. 

Let us tell you that the government's stake in LIC is 96 percent. The government has 6,103,622,781 (610 crore) shares of it. LIC has announced to give dividend to its investors at the rate of Rs 12 per share, and in this way, the government has been given its share of Rs 7324 crore. LIC is going to turn 69 soon. The insurance company said that as of March 31, 2025, its asset base is Rs 56.23 lakh crore. During this, it was also told that it is currently the largest insurance company in India.

LIC shares 

On Friday, LIC shares closed at Rs 853.65. In the last week, its shares have fallen by 4.85 percent. At the same time, in the last month, it has given a negative return of 4.34 percent. So far this year, LIC shares have slipped by 4.47 percent. Whereas in the last year, it has fallen by 21.42 percent. However, amidst all this, LIC shares have also given a return of 25.53 percent in the last three years.
