Indian Cricket Team: Cricket fans are currently busy in the thrill of IPL. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken a big step. Actually, the board has sacked three people from the coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir. This also includes Gambhir's 'favorite'. After India's shameful defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, the BCCI has taken a big decision to remove some members of the team's support staff. However, the board has not officially announced it.

These three names out of the coaching staff

According to a report published in Dainik Jagran, assistant coach Abhishek Nair, along with fielding coach T. Dilip and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai have also been sacked. Abhishek Nair was appointed just eight months ago. People also call him Gautam Gambhir's favourite. Gautam Gambhir was appointed as India's new head coach after Rahul Dravid's tenure, after which he included a large part of his coaching staff from Kolkata Knight Riders, which includes Nair, Ryan Ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel.

In response to India's batting struggles in the home Test series against New Zealand and on foreign soil in Australia, the BCCI appointed NCA and India A coach Sitanshu Kotak as the batting coach for white-ball assignments earlier this year. Despite initial setbacks, Gambhir and his coaching team made a strong comeback and led India to the Champions Trophy title. Nair, Ten Doeschate, Morkel, Dilip and Kotak were all key members of the support staff during the victorious campaign.

Who will take over the responsibility?

Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate will temporarily take over the fielding responsibilities in place of T. Dilip. While no replacement has been announced for Nair or Dilip yet, South African trainer Adrian Le Roux - who is currently with Punjab Kings in the IPL - will take over the strength and conditioning responsibilities from Soham Desai.

New staff will enter

The new support staff is expected to join the Indian team ahead of the crucial five-match Test series against England starting June 20. After the BGT, the BCCI is clearly trying to re-establish and strengthen the team's structure and morale ahead of another high-profile red-ball assignment. India's next challenge is in the home five-match Test series against England. The big challenge before the BCCI is to find a replacement for Nair and Dilip in time before the series.
