International Gita Festival 2025

Kurukshetra Gita Mahotsav 2025: The spiritual atmosphere in Kurukshetra, Haryana, is at its peak these days. With the inauguration of the International Gita Mahotsav on November 15, 2025, millions of devotees from across the country and the world are arriving at this sacred land. The festival will conclude on December 5, 2025.

Kurukshetra is the birthplace of the teachings of the Gita.

Kurukshetra is known as the birthplace of the Gita Updesh, as it was on this land that Lord Krishna delivered the Gita Updesh to Arjuna. Therefore, the religious, historical, and spiritual significance of this place is so immense that the mere sight of a devotee is filled with divinity. The Gita Mahotsav is held annually to spread this sacredness and infinite wisdom to the masses.

The Gita Mahotsav is held annually in Kurukshetra for 18 days, modelled after the 18-chapter Mahabharata and the 18-day-long Mahabharata War. This year, the festival has been extended to 21 days.

The land of Kurukshetra is like a pilgrimage site.

The land of Kurukshetra is also known as Dharmabhoomi or Dharmakshetra. According to religious texts, it was here that Lord Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna just before the Mahabharata War. This preaching dispelled Arjuna's attachment, and he proceeded to battle. The teachings of the Gita continue to teach humanity the lessons of life, imparting the eternal message of karma, dharma, knowledge, and devotion.

In the scriptures, the soil of Kurukshetra is called "Punya Bhoomi," because it is the place where Lord Krishna himself provided divine guidance for the establishment of Dharma. Kurukshetra also houses numerous sacred lakes and temples dedicated to gods and goddesses (Brahma Sarovar, Bhishma Kund, Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple, Jyotisar, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, etc.). It is believed that bathing and donating in Kurukshetra yield the same benefits as pilgrimage.
