Ingredients for making Kala Chana
- Black chickpeas - 1 cup
- Oil
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Onion – 1 finely chopped
- Tomatoes – 2 pureed or finely chopped
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- Small cardamom - 1-2
- Cinnamon - a piece
- Bay leaf - 1
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Cumin powder - half a teaspoon
- Red chilli powder - half a teaspoon
- Turmeric - half a teaspoon
- Garam masala - half a teaspoon
- Salt- as per taste
- Green coriander - finely chopped
Method of making black gram
- To make Kala Chana ki Sabzi, first soak the chickpeas in water for 6-7 hours or overnight. Now put the chickpeas in a pressure cooker, add water and cook it until four to five whistles.
- Now heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, bay leaves, cardamom and cinnamon to it. Now add finely chopped onion and fry it till it turns golden.
- Now add ginger and garlic paste in it. Now add tomatoes in it. Fry it well. Now add coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder and cumin powder in it. Roast the spices well. When the spices are roasted, then add boiled gram in it. Mix it well and add water.
- Mix salt and garam masala in it as per your taste. Now cover it and cook it and when it is cooked, add coriander leaves in it.
