Just an increase of Rs 2 and a huge profit of Rs 15 crores..., know the complete game plan of Zomato

Zomato Platform Fee: Even though this increase may seem to be just Rs 2, according to experts, its impact is huge. It is estimated that the company fulfills about 25 lakh orders daily.

Zomato Hikes Platform Fee: Eternal, the parent company of food delivery company Zomato and quick commerce app Blinkit, has increased its platform fees. The company announced on Tuesday that the platform charge of Rs 10 taken from the customers has been increased to Rs 12. That is, an increase of about 20% has come into effect. It is worth noting that the company first introduced the platform charge on 2 August 2023.

Why isn't there this minor increase?

Even though this increase may seem to be just Rs 2, according to experts, its impact is huge. It is estimated that the company completes about 25 lakh orders daily. In such a situation, the company can earn an additional income of up to Rs 15 crore daily from platform fees alone. On an annual basis, this income can reach Rs 180 to 200 crore.

However, users have also expressed their displeasure over this decision. They say that while on one hand discounts and offers are being reduced on the platform, on the other hand the platform fees are being continuously increased.

The company's profits will increase

In the June quarter, the company's net profit fell to just Rs 25 crore, while in the same period last year it was Rs 253 crore. However, on the other hand, the company's revenue has increased from Rs 4,206 crore to Rs 7,167 crore. This increase has been possible due to aggressive investment in Blinkit and other new businesses.
