Earlier, Punjab Kings won the toss and invited Lucknow Supergiants to bat first. Captain KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers got off to a brisk start. In the fourth over of the match, Rabada caught KL Rahul (12) by Shahrukh on the team's score of 41. Lucknow completed their 50 runs in 4.2 overs. By getting Kyle Mayers (54) caught out by captain Shikhar Dhawan in the sixth over, the team got a second success.
