Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team of Chennai Super Kings has reached a record 10th IPL final. On Tuesday, four-time champions CSK defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by 15 runs. In this match, during Gujarat's batting, there was a moment when Chennai players were seen roaming around in the field for some time, while some players including Dhoni were seen talking to the umpire. During this, the match was halted for about four minutes. At that time no one could understand what happened. However, now some things have come to the fore in the media reports on this matter.

This whole incident happened in the 16th over of Gujarat's innings. Then GT's team had scored 102 runs for six wickets after 15 overs. The team needed 71 runs in the next five overs. Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan were at the crease. In such a situation, Dhoni thought of bringing back the best bowler of his death over, Mathisha Pathirana, in the bowling attack. Before the 16th over, suddenly Dhoni reaches the square leg umpire and starts talking to him. After this, the rest of the CSK players also join Dhoni.

Dhoni talks to the umpire for about four minutes. During this, Pathirana also comes there and Dhoni is seen talking to him too. After about four minutes the match resumes and Pathirana bowls in the 16th over. Before the 16th was over, Pathirana went out of the ground for some time. When he returns to the field, according to the rules of the game, he has to spend some time in the field before bowling. Pathirana had not spent that time. In such a situation, when Dhoni decided to hand over the ball to Pathirana in the 16th over, the umpire stopped him from doing so.

On this, Dhoni kept talking to the umpire to cut that time and the match was stopped. Four minutes later, the umpire allowed Dhoni to resume play. Pathirana became eligible to bowl and bowled in the 16th over. Actually, according to Dhoni's strategy, Pathirana wanted to get the 16th, 18th, and 20th overs done. Apart from Pathirana and Tushar Pandey, Dhoni did not have options for the main bowlers. In such a situation, Dhoni stuck to his plan and kept talking to the umpire for a long time.

When the match resumed, the CSK team was five minutes behind. However, this did not harm Dhoni's team and in the 19th-20th over, five fielders were allowed to keep on the boundary. CSK won this match by 15 runs and the team reached the final of the IPL for the 10th time. Reacting to the incident, Sunil Gavaskar said in the commentary box, "You accept the umpire's decision. Even though sometimes in high-pressure situations the umpire gets it wrong."

Vijay Shankar said after the match, "I think Pathirana was out of the field for some time and he had very little time to come on the field. That's why I think the game was stopped. At the same time, Rituraj said, "I don't know, I went there to gossip (laughs) but it didn't happen." Pathirana then completed his quota of four overs and also got the wicket of Shankar.
