Unbreakable Cricket Record: Many records are made and broken in the world of cricket, but there are some that become immortal in history. One such record is of taking the most wickets in an ODI match which is registered in the name of a Sri Lankan pacer. This player had single-handedly defeated the entire team. It would not be wrong to call this player the king of ODIs or the most lethal pacer in history. This bowler took so many wickets in an ODI which is no less than a miracle.
The whole team is down at 38
It was the year 2001 when this record was recorded in the pages of cricket history. The teams of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe came out to compete against each other. The Zimbabwe team came out to bat first on the Colombo ground and Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas attacked the Sri Lankan team like a hungry lion. He sent a batsman to the pavilion on the very first ball. But who knew that this bowler would destroy the entire team. The bowling was so lethal that the Zimbabwean batsmen yearned for runs and the entire team collapsed on a score of just 38.
Vaas took a hat-trick
After the first over, Vaas fooled the batsmen in the fifth over. He dismissed two batsmen in this over. The picture was not over yet because Chaminda Vaas, who came to bowl the 11th over, created history by taking wickets on the third, fourth and fifth balls. After taking a hattrick, he had 6 wickets to his name which was a record. But Chaminda Vaas did not stop here.
Sri Lanka won by 9 wickets
Sri Lanka's team won this match by 9 wickets. Sri Lanka won this match with 274 balls remaining. In the match, 10 Zimbabwean batsmen were not even able to cross the double digit mark. It will be almost impossible for any bowler to break this record. Chaminda Vaas played 322 ODIs and 111 Tests in his career in which he took 400 wickets and 355 wickets respectively. He played only 6 matches in T20 in which he has only 6 wickets to his name.
