"I thought my life was over, people were screaming" This big leader got stuck in Delhi-Srinagar flight

What happened in the Indigo flight going from Delhi to Srinagar on Wednesday was no less than a nightmare for hundreds of passengers. The weather suddenly changed in the sky and the plane got stuck in stormy winds and hailstorm. When the passengers present in flight number 6E 2142 saw the plane shaking and trembling amidst strong shocks, there was only panic all around - some were praying, while some were remembering their loved ones.

A five-member delegation of Trinamool Congress was also among those who faced this horrific experience. Party leader and journalist Sagarika Ghosh later said, "That moment was like I had come face to face with death. I was thinking that now life is going to end."

The pilot showed courage in bad weather

When the flight flying with more than 220 passengers reached near Srinagar, the weather suddenly deteriorated. The plane started swaying badly amid strong winds, rain and hail. The situation became so serious that the pilot had to inform the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the emergency. Thankfully, the captain of IndiGo showed amazing restraint and efficiency and landed the plane safely at Srinagar Airport.

Video of fear went viral on social media

After the incident, some passengers shared the video of this scary experience on social media, in which passengers can be seen screaming and praying. A passenger Sheikh Samiullah wrote, "I narrowly escaped. Salute to the pilot for this safe landing."

Sagarika Ghosh shared the experience of fear

TMC leader Sagarika Ghosh said, "When the flight landed, we saw that the front part of the plane was damaged." MPs Derek O'Brien, Nadimul Haque, Manas Bhuiyan and Mamta Thakur, who were present with her, also witnessed the incident.

IndiGo's official statement

IndiGo Airlines reacted to the incident by saying, "Our flight from Delhi to Srinagar faced bad weather and hailstorm en route. The crew followed all the prescribed protocols and the plane landed safely. All the passengers are safe and the airport team took full care of them." The airline said that the plane is being carefully inspected and it will be allowed to fly again only after repairs.
