How much litchi can a diabetic patient eat?

 

According to him, diabetes patients can eat three to four medium-sized litchis a day. That too when their blood sugar level is under control.

 

 

Experts say that litchi is a nutritious fruit. It contains many types of nutrients like vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium, and fiber. But at the same time, it contains 15 to 16 grams of natural sugar. The glycemic index of Litchi is also more than 50, which is medium. Eating it in large quantities can increase blood sugar rapidly.

  • Blood sugar is under control- 3 to 4 litchis once a day
  • HbA1c is less than 7 percent – ​​can be eaten occasionally in limited quantity.
  • If HbA1c is more than 8 percent or sugar is not under control, then avoid litchi.

Things to keep in mind while eating litchi

 

  • Do not eat litchi on an empty stomach or before sleeping at night.
  • Take litchi with fiber rich foods.
  • Take a short walk after eating litchi.
  • Check your blood sugar regularly, especially if you are consuming it for the first time.
  • Avoid drinking canned litchi or litchi juice
