How much should BP increase to cause a heart attack?
- 120/80- normal
- 120-139/80-89- pre hypertension
- 140-159/90-99- Stage 1 hypertension
- 160/100 or more - Stage 2 hypertension
Experts say that if your BP is 120/80 then it is considered normal. A little higher or lower is not a big problem. But, if your BP starts to rise to 140/90 or more, then you should be alert. This condition can increase the risk of heart attack .
If someone is suffering from high blood pressure, then he should be more cautious. If you have pain, burning or tightness in the chest, pain in the upper back or around the chest, difficulty in breathing , pain in both hands, head or back, excessive sweating or nausea, then you should be alert. You should immediately consult a doctor.
