UAE New Pipeline Project: The UAE is working on a new pipeline bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The pipeline's current capacity of 1.5 million barrels per day will increase to 1.8 million barrels per day.

UAE Masterplan
UAE New Pipeline Project: Amidst the Middle East conflict, the Strait of Hormuz has become the world's most dangerous chokepoint. 20 percent of global oil supplies pass through it, but Iran has currently blocked this route. This has halted crude oil imports and exports, directly impacting fuel prices. However, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has now found a solution. Learn more about it here.
What is the UAE's masterplan?
The UAE is now building a new pipeline from the west to the east coast, bypassing Hormuz. Once the new pipeline is operational, it will double the oil export capacity from Fujairah. The Habshan-Fujairah pipeline, which currently carries 1.8 million barrels of oil daily, will now be able to carry 1.8 million barrels.
When will the new pipeline be operational?
During an executive committee meeting, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed directed the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company to expedite the West-East Pipeline project. It is expected that this new pipeline will be operational by 2027, allowing the Strait of Hormuz to be easily bypassed.
What do experts say?
Fujairah is already one of the world's major oil storage and bunkering hubs. This new project will significantly increase its oil export capacity. Experts believe this move will further strengthen the UAE's energy security and its presence in the global market. Amid rising tensions in the Middle East and concerns about oil supplies, the UAE is continuously strengthening its energy infrastructure. This ADNOC project could prove to be a major game-changer for the global oil market in the future. This will reduce the UAE's dependence on the Strait of Hormuz for oil exports and help secure global supplies.
