Heart Health: AI will tell whether your heart is young or old, the ECG report will reveal a big secret!

Scientists from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) presented new research at the EHRA 2025 conference, in which a method has been developed to determine the 'biological age' of the heart from ECG data using AI.

In today's era, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not just a part of technology, but it is also playing a big role in testing our health. Scientists from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) presented a new research at the EHRA 2025 conference, in which a method has been developed to find out the 'biological age' of the heart from ECG data using AI. According to this study, through the ECG report, AI can tell how much more or less healthy your heart is than your actual age.

Every person's heart age is of two types - chronological (actual) age and biological (biological) age. While chronological age is determined by the years of your birth, biological age depends on how well your heart is working. With the help of AI, it can now be ascertained from the ECG report whether your heart is aging faster than your actual age or is younger than it.

Research done on 5 lakh people

During this study, scientists analyzed the ECG data of 5 people and developed a deep learning algorithm. This AI tool assessed the biological age of the heart and found out which people are at a higher risk of heart disease and death.

The deep relationship between heart age and mortality rate.

The results of the research are very surprising. If the biological age of the heart is 7 years more than the actual age of a person, then the risk of death increases by 62% and the risk of serious heart disease (MACE) increases by 92%. On the other hand, if the heart age is 7 years less than the actual age, then the risk of death decreases by 14% and the risk of heart disease decreases by 27%.

ECG will give accurate results

According to the researchers, people whose ejection fraction (EF) was low (i.e. whose heart was weak in pumping blood) had a longer QRS duration in their ECG report. This indicates that the electrical signals of their heart are being transmitted at a slower rate. The QT interval was also found to be longer in these patients, which shows that the contraction and relaxation of their heart is taking more time than normal.

Expected clinical use in the future

This technique of analysing ECG data by AI can revolutionise the detection of heart disease risk in the future. Associate Professor Back says that this technique needs further studies on a large scale so that its results can be made more accurate and reliable.

Be alert for a healthy heart

If your heart is getting older than your age, then it is time to change your lifestyle. You can reduce the age of your heart with regular exercise, balanced diet and stress-free life. This new AI-based technology will soon help doctors to find out the real age of your heart, so that the right treatment can be done in time.
