A shocking and deeply disturbing crime has emerged from Rewari district in Haryana, where a family was subjected to a brutal midnight home invasion on April 3. According to police reports, a group of 7-8 armed men entered a house, assaulted the residents, and sexually harassed two women at gunpoint, filming the incident to blackmail them.
The attackers also stole gold jewellery worth ₹18 lakh and destroyed evidence before fleeing. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and fear in the area.
Details of the Incident
The crime took place in a village under the Sadar police station area. A woman from the victim’s family filed a complaint, stating that she and her sister-in-law were alone at home that night. Around 1 AM, the gang of armed miscreants broke into the house, held the women at gunpoint, and demanded valuables.
They snatched their mobile phones, assaulted the male family member, and locked him up in a separate room. What followed was horrific: the assailants forced the women to strip, molested them, and recorded the abuse on video—threatening to leak it if the crime was reported.
Loot and Destruction
During their search for valuables, the miscreants dug into the house floor, eventually stealing jewellery reportedly worth ₹18 lakh. They also took away the CCTV DVR system to erase evidence. The criminals remained in the house for nearly 90 minutes before fleeing.
Police Investigation Underway
The victims informed the police later, and a case was registered on Monday, April 8. SHO Rajendra Kumar of Sadar Police Station confirmed that a formal FIR has been lodged, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and believe the suspects will be arrested soon.
“This is a grave crime. We are putting in all resources to bring the culprits to justice,” the SHO said.
Atmosphere of Fear in the Village
Following the incident, an atmosphere of panic and fear has gripped the village. The women, both victims of physical assault and psychological trauma, are reportedly in deep shock. Locals have demanded swift and strict action, with many calling for fast-track proceedings and life imprisonment for the guilty.
This case adds to growing concerns over women’s safety and law and order in rural parts of Haryana. Authorities now face increasing pressure to deliver justice quickly and restore public confidence.
