The aircraft was hired from a Vienna-based charter service. According to flight records accessed by India Today TV, the jet took off from Miami, Florida at 2.15 am local time (11.45 am IST) on Wednesday. It landed in Bucharest, Romania at 7 pm local time (9.30 pm IST) the same day.
A luxurious cabin in a Gulfstream G550
Built in 2013, the Gulfstream G550 has a luxurious cabin. It can seat 19 passengers with 9 divan seats and 6 beds. Known for its distinctive oval windows, the aircraft has spacious interiors and exceptional ultra-long range. It also has wireless internet, satellite phone connectivity and an advanced in-flight entertainment system.
Plane stopped in Romania
The flight stopped in the Romanian capital for nearly 11 hours before resuming the final leg of its journey. The Gulfstream took off from Bucharest at 6.15 am local time (8.45 am IST) on Thursday and headed straight to New Delhi, where it landed amid tight security. Soon after landing in Delhi, he was formally arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Senior officers had gone to bring Rana
A statement issued by the agency said, "Rana was brought to New Delhi from Los Angeles, US in a special aircraft by teams of NSG and NIA. This included senior officials. At the airport, the NIA investigation team arrested Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. Preferred to be based in Chicago (US), soon after he deboarded the aircraft, after completing all the necessary legal formalities."
