Ahead of IPL 2026, the BCCI has signed a three-year mega sponsorship deal with Google's AI platform, Gemini. This agreement will generate approximately ₹90 crore annually for the BCCI, further strengthening the IPL's brand value.

IPL 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has secured a major and blockbuster sponsorship deal ahead of IPL 2026. Google's AI platform, Gemini, has signed a three-year agreement with the BCCI, estimated to be worth approximately ₹270 crore (approximately $2.7 billion). This means the BCCI will earn approximately ₹90 crore (approximately $9 billion) annually under this deal.
A BCCI official confirmed the deal to PTI, saying that the agreement is for three years and further strengthens the IPL's global brand value. The IPL has already become the world's most expensive and popular T20 league, and the entry of AI companies has given it a new dimension.
AI companies are increasingly interested in cricket
This sponsorship deal by Gemini demonstrates the growing connection between cricket and artificial intelligence in India. Previously, ChatGPT, a rival AI platform to Google, was named sponsor of the Women's Premier League (WPL). This means that AI companies now have a presence in both the men's and women's major T20 leagues in India.
When ChatGPT's partnership with WPL was announced, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had said that the association of such global tech brands will enhance the fan experience and also strengthen women's cricket.
Popularity of AI platforms among common users as well
AI platforms like Gemini and ChatGPT are no longer limited to professional use in India; they are also being widely used by ordinary people. These platforms are becoming increasingly important for cricket analysis, content creation, and digital experiences. This is why these companies are willing to invest substantial sums to expand their reach among Indian cricket fans.
