A strengthening rupee also put pressure on precious metal prices." The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had taken several measures to strengthen the currency. Internationally, spot gold fell $17.36, or 0.41%, to $4,176.88 per ounce, while silver rose. was trading marginally lower at $60.66 per ounce.

Gaurav Garg, head of research at brokerage platform Lemmon, said, "Gold prices fell to around $4,179 per ounce in global markets despite softening crude oil prices. The US dollar index remained near an 18-month high, limiting the potential for further gains in precious metal prices." Garg said crude oil prices fell on expectations of increased energy supplies from Russia, easing immediate supply concerns. However, renewed tensions in West Asia and risks to regional maritime transport kept oil prices volatile.
