If you eat a lot of fried food, or lie down or sit after eating, drink alcohol before sleeping, or suffer from constipation, then this can cause gas to build up in the chest. Due to which it is common to have symptoms like heart attack such as pressure in the chest, shortness of breath or feeling uneasy. 

 

 

Difference between gas in the chest and heart attack pain

When gas gets trapped in the chest, there is bloating or burping, burning or heaviness in the chest, pain increases after eating food, pain changes when the body changes sides. On the other hand, in case of a heart attack, symptoms like sudden sharp pain that goes to the left hand or back, pain in the jaw, sweating, dizziness or fainting, shortness of breath, restlessness that does not subside are felt. 

Home remedies to get relief from gas

- Drinking lukewarm water on an empty stomach in the morning and after eating improves digestion and prevents gas formation.

- Drinking a spoonful of ginger juice mixed with lemon juice reduces gas. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties.

- Mixing a pinch of asafoetida in lukewarm water and drinking it helps in removing stomach gas.

- Drink fennel and mint tea. It cools the stomach and gives relief from gas.

- Do yoga asanas like Vajrasana, Pawanmuktasana and Anulom-Vilom. This can help in reducing gas.

To prevent gas from getting trapped in the chest, eat on time. Avoid eating too much and heavy, gas-producing foods at night. Also, take a light walk for 10-15 minutes after eating. Also, do not make the mistake of drinking alcohol just before sleeping.
