Om Prakash Death: Former Karnataka DGP (Director General of Police) Om Prakash was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his house in Bengaluru on Sunday. Police suspect that Om Prakash has been murdered. Police have serious suspicion on Om Prakash's wife in this case. She has been taken into custody.

According to the preliminary information received from the police, his wife has been considered the accused in the DGP's murder case. Police took Om Prakash's body to the hospital for postmortem. Police suspect that Om Prakash was murdered with a sharp weapon. His wife and daughter have been detained for questioning in the case. Knife marks have been found on Om Prakash's stomach and neck. After questioning, the police will decide to arrest his wife and daughter.

Om Prakash's body was soaked in blood 

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand said that Om Prakash's body was found soaked in blood. He may have been murdered with a sharp weapon. Dayanand said, "On Sunday evening around 4-4.30 pm we received information about the death of our former DGP and IGP Om Prakash. His son has been contacted. He is giving a complaint about the incident. An FIR will be registered on that basis. After the case is registered, a detailed investigation will be conducted. No arrest has been made yet."

 

"Preliminary investigation suggests that the case may be of internal nature. It appears that a sharp-edged weapon was used, which caused so much bleeding that it led to death," he said.

Om Prakash, a 1981 batch IPS officer, was a Karnataka cadre officer. Om Prakash served as DGP in 2015 and Inspector General of Police (IGP) until his retirement in 2017. He was originally from Champaran in Bihar. He did MSc (geology).
